All wool and a Yard wide

"All Wool and Yard Wide" explores the sustainability and resilience of British wool in today’s economy. Collaborating with Harper Adams University, sheep farmers across England and Wales, and the British Wool Society, Sarah Martindale documents the experiences and challenges faced by those in the wool industry.

Although wool is increasingly used as an eco-friendly material in products like surfboards, chairs, and cool boxes, its market value has plummeted to historic lows, leaving many farmers with little to no profit from their wool. This project sheds light on the critical issues facing the wool industry, including the potential decline in wool production and the far-reaching implications this may have for the future.

This is an ongoing project. Farmers interested in participating or sharing their stories are encouraged to contact Sarah Martindale.
